Always (Poem)

Always

Sometimes I am ashamed of the past

Sometimes I am dismayed by the future

Sometimes I am weak in here and now

Yet, Always, You are with me

The trouble of my friends burden me

The plight of my lover overwhelms me

The corruption of my enemy enrages me

Yet, Always, You are with Me

Always in the silence

Always in the noise

Always in the peace

Always in the chaos

It is my ears that can’t hear

It is my eyes which can’t see

It is my heart that is cold

It is my soul that is dying

Yet, Always, You are with me

Grant mercy when I need it,

enforce discipline when I hate it,

and engulf me in Your love when I am empty and barren

Always, Father, You are with me

Help me to be with You

Always
