A Sacred Space Between (Poem)
Our Heavenly Father never intended for us to live out of pious severity or from unenthused apathy.
There is a sacred space between, in the fervor of both being in the delight of God and delighting in God.
This is how we can attain faith in the midst of doubt, hope in the midst of despair, and love in the midst of hate.
If we make light of those around us in darkness, we contribute only to their darkness. If we, however, descend with them in their darkness, retaining the light within us, the Christ within us, we do indeed lighten their darkness, and the kingdom of heaven is manifest.
Therefore, we must take Christ seriously when He prayed for all of us brothers and sisters, that we may be one as He and HIs Father are one. When we believe the Father delights in us, we reveal Christ in us, and we also do the will of the Father, who desires that no one perish and that all come to repentance.
So then, when we encounter those hurting and broken in darkness, may we enter into their midst without judgment or condemnation. May we bring, instead, love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
By doing so, our rooted place in the delight of God deepens, and so too our delight in God.
