Still You are God (Poem)

Still You Are God

He answers the call of those who ask of Him

A desperate and needy heart He will never turn away

His name assures safety, His laws guarantee guidance

He abhors evil for what it does to men, how it turns flesh to stone

Before priests and elders, before sages and shamans

There was One who all things listened to; there was One who spoke and created creation

Love before there was life and life before there was death

Within this God all things hold together

Yahweh, Yahweh, no god is like You

No other god can create, no other god can love

Therefore I will turn to You

I will pray and listen for You

You are the first councilor, the first guide for men

You know what is best for You are the greatest

I trust in Your goodness

Within you lies no evil and no deceit

Even in the depths of despair

Even in the muck and the mire

When the voice within sours

When this heart within toils

Still You are God

Still You are Faith

Still You are Hope

Still You are Love

Still You are God
